PLACE OF ORIGIN – LIMA (CITY TOUR / ARCHEOLOGICAL MUSEUM)
Arrive at scheduled time. Pick up and welcome at the airport. Transfer and accommodation at the hotel.
In the afternoon, at a proper time we will have a city tour visiting the Historical Center: Plaza San Martin, Plaza Mayor, Government Palace, Cathedral, Archbishop’s Palace, City Hall, etc. Convent and Church of San Francisco, with monumental assembly of colonial art; its Chorus and Library of the monks; Sacristy with paintings of Zurbaran and Rivera; Big Patio of the Main Cloister, Moorish arches and Catacombs, underground crypts from the colonial era. Modern Lima: The tour continues through the more traditional Residential Areas: El Olivar de San Isidro, Central Park of Miraflores and Larcomar, ended with a spectacular panoramic view of the Pacific Ocean. Finally we will visit the Archaeological Museum.
LIMA – AREQUIPA (COUNTRYSIDE CITY TOUR)
Breakfast and transfer to the airport for our domestic flight to Arequipa. Arrival, reception and transfer to hotel. In the afternoon we will have a city tour, where we will visit the monuments of the White City of Arequipa: the Monastery of Santa Catalina, Plaza de Armas, the Cathedral, Church and Cloisters of the Society of Jesus; Dome of San Ignacio; Yanahuara and Cayma Alto Mirador, Plaza and Mirador of Sachaca, Tingo’s SPA, Inka terraces of Paucarpata District, Mill of Sabandia, Founder’s Mansion. Return to selected hotel.
AREQUIPA – COLCA CANYON – CHIVAY
Pick up from the hotel and departure from Arequipa. We will start our trip to one of the deepest canyons in the world, taking the road to Yura , bordering the snowy Chachani through Pampa de Arrieros and Pampa Cañahua (National Reserve of Aguada Blanca and Salinas) habitat of the beautiful south american camelids, vicuñas, llamas and alpacas. Then we will go to Viscachani where we will enjoy a coca tea to acclimate our bodies. Continuing the tour will appreciate in the wetlands of Tocra a wide variety of migratory birds, including flamingos and ibises. Also we will pass by the crater of an extincted volcano (Chucura). After we will stop at the viewpoint of the volcano, which is the highest point of the road (16.076 feet latitude) where we will see much of the western range. Later we will descend to the town of Chivay (11.811 feet latitude) where we will have lunch. Accommodation at the hotel. In the afternoon, optional visit to the hot springs of La Calera, which surpass 100°F (38°C). In the evening we will enjoy the dinner accompanied by a folkloric show.
COLCA CANYON – CRUZ DEL CONDOR – CHIVAY – LAGUNILLAS -PUNO
Early in the morning breakfast at the hotel. Then we will head to the Cruz del Condor, where we can appreciate the depth of the canyon and the flight of the majestic condor at close distance. Returning back we will observe archaeological pre-Inca remains, agricultural terraces and other panoramic views of the Colca Canyon. We will also pass through the villages of Pinchollo, Maca, Achoma, Yanque and we will stop in the last one so we can visit the typical churches and interacting with inhabitants who still wear their traditional dress embroidered by themselves. Adittionally, we will visit the viewpoints of Choquetico and Antahuilque, where we will observe the impressive terraces of the valley, pre-Inca tombs and models. Arrival to Chivay and lunch. Departure to Puno.
PUNO – UROS ISLANDS – TAQUILE ISLAND – PUNO
Transfer from the hotel to the port to head to the Uros Islands, appreciating all of Lake Titicaca National Reserve: flora and fauna. We will visit two of the 30 floating islands, which are formed by totora, an acuatic plant. After a beautiful ride we will go towards the Taquile Island and we will walk to the top of the island where the Inca community is presented intact and we will learn more about the best weavers of ancient Peru. We will have lunch on the island. In the afternoon we will return back watching the lake with its bluish waters, beautiful scenery and customs of its inhabitants, arriving in Puno.
PUNO – PUKARA – RAQCHI – ANDAHUAYLILLAS – CUSCO
Pick up from hotel and we will start our journey to Cusco. On the way we will visit different archaeological sites and tourist sites, such as, Pucara (Puno) where we will find the archaeological site and vibrant modern tradition of pottery; and also the Lithic Museum. Continuing the journey of this day, we will get to the architectural complex of Raqchi (Cusco), built by the Inca Viracocha in homage to the superior god Apu Kon Titi Viracocha. The place has multiple complex buildings, farming terraces, “kanchas” (apartments), “wayranas “qolqas” (warehouses) and religious sources of water, etc. As part of our route we will arrive in Andahuaylillas, where the famous and beautiful church of the same name known as the Sistine Chapel of America is located. Here we will appreciate beautiful examples of Colonial Art. Returning back we will pass by different villages as Saylla, Oropesa, Tipon and Huasao.
CUSCO – RECOCIJO PLAZA – CATHEDRAL – QORICANCHA – WHITE CHRIST – SAQSAYHUAMAN- QENQO
In the afternoon we will have a City Tour of Cusco visiting the main tourist areas in the city, such as, the Cathedral, Plaza Mayor, passing through various traditional streets. Also we will visit the Qoricancha (Temple of the Sun) and we will continue our route visiting Sacsayhuaman, Qenqo, Tambomachay and completing our journey in Pucapucara.
CUSCO – PISAQ TOWN AND ARCHEOLOGICAL COMPLEX – URUBAMBA – OLLANTAYTAMBO – SACRED VALLEY
Breakfast and pick up from hotel. We will begin our tour of the Sacred Valley of the Incas where we will have brief stops for photographing cultural elements and landscapes on our way to the first visit point, Pisaq. We will stop at the viewpoints of Qorao – Taray where we will have a fantastic view of the valley and river Willcamayu . Once in in Pisaq we will appreciate the colorful village and we will have a guided tour of the archaeological complex. Continuing our journey we will get to Urubamba where we will have our buffet lunch.
After lunch, we will follow our tour until we arrive in the living Inca town of Ollantaytambo, where Incas still live and whose urban planning is purely Inca. We will visit the archaeological complex of Ollantaytambo where we will visit the religious, astronomical and military complex. Also we will see how the ancient Incas moved stone blocks of nearly 60 metric tons from one mountain to the other. We will finish our journey with the transfer to the selected hotel.
SACRED VALLEY – AGUAS CALIENTES – SANCTUARY OF MACHU PICCHU
After breakfast, early in the morning we will go to the station to board the train heading to the town of Machupicchu. Pick up at the train station and then we will board our bus to the Sacred Citadel of Machu Picchu (travel time approx. 25 minutes). Once we get to the Inca Citadel we will have a guided tour visiting main attractions, streets, plazas, ceremonial centers and stairways. After that we will have some free time to take pictures of memories in the archaeological complex. Optional hike to the mountain of Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu. At the indicated time we will return to the village where we will have a buffet lunch. Rest of the afternoon free for personal activities or relax in the hot springs or hiking around the village .
MACHU PICCHU – CUSCO
After breakfast at indicated time we will board our train back to Cusco, which will be a fantastic trip with marvelous scenic beauty of the place. Arrival at the train station and transfer to selected hotel.
CUSCO – CHINCHERO – MARAS – MORAY – CUSCO
Pick up from the hotel early in the morning. We will begin the journey visiting the ancient town of Chinchero, famous for its textiles. Then we will continue our tour towards Maras, possessing pre-Hispanic attractives, colonial and republican, highlighting the colonial doorways. Also we will visit the salt mines where we can appreciate the natural salt extraction. Finally we will visit Moray, unique archaeological group of its kind in agricultural circular platforms with their respective irrigation channels; important center of acclimatization and hybridization of wild plants for human consumption. In the afternoon we will return to Cusco, where in the evening we will attend the show of traditional dances.
CUSCO – LIMA
Breakfast at the hotel and at indicated time transfer to the airport. Domestic flight to Lima and transfer to the hotel. Free afternoon for personal activities.
